Advanced Resource Scheduling and Multi-Node Slice Provisioning on FABRIC ( public ) ( FABRIC Tutorials )
This notebook showcases advanced slice provisioning techniques on the FABRIC testbed using FABlib. It allows experimenters to specify custom resource requests—including CPU cores, RAM size, and disk space—per node, and to place nodes across multiple sites.
The notebook includes a proactive validation step to catch common errors (such as overcommitted resources or unsupported configurations) before submitting the slice request. It also demonstrates how to make advanced reservations for time-sensitive experiments.
Key features include:
- Dynamic resource customization per node (CPU, RAM, Disk)
- Multi-site node provisioning
- Support for advanced reservations with start and end times
- Pre-validation of slice configurations to detect errors early
- Slice status monitoring and retry handling
- Support for site-aware debugging and output collection
